Asthma is a chronic condition characterized by difficulty of breathing due to  inflammation in the airways. You can experience wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.

Doctors in western medicine such as myself have been trained to believe that a cure for asthma doesn’t exist. This is because we were trained to simply control symptoms instead of curing its root cause.

Treatment for asthma usually involves using a combination of quick-relief medications to alleviate symptoms during an asthma attack, as well as long-term control medications to prevent attacks from occurring. In addition to medications, avoiding triggers such as allergens, smoke, and pollution can help reduce the frequency and severity of asthma symptoms.  You can learn more about these medicine in this blog post.

Personally I grew up as an asthmatic.  So I know what it is like to take all these medications and experience their side effects.  However,. Something happened to me.  While I was in medical school, I explored different alternatives until I learned the Buteyko Method.

The Buteyko Method changed the way I saw and treated asthma. By mastering the Buteyko Method, I was able to stop and prevent  my asthma attacks without medicines or even supplements.

You see what the Buteyko Method proposes to do is not only control symptoms of asthma but rather fix the condition from its root source.  The founder of the Buteyko Method, Dr. Konstantin Buteyko discovered that asthmatics do certain things differently from non-asthmatics.  It was It was these differences that caused asthmatics to have less chemicals that prevented asthma in their system.

So through the application of exercises and some lifestyle modifications, Dr. Buteyko’s followers such as myself are ablt to stop and prevent asthma attacks without medicine.  This year marks my 20th year of being asthma-free, medicine-free.

The beauty of this technique is that you can learn it easily too.  I have improved on the original program of the Buteyko Method and turned it into an easy-to-learn online program called Beat Asthma.  Beat Asthma is the best way to learn the Buteyko Method, and as the name implies, it is also the best way for you to beat your asthma.
